Fat Dude Digs Flicks

During Oscar season, the notion of creating new features kind of grinds to a halt. My goal is to watch as many Oscar nominees as I possibly can. With only 13 of 62 left to go, I’m doing a pretty good job. When the awards have come and gone, however, there will be some new features here. Three that I would like to address specifically are the following:

In Defense Of…

These are movies that have either been maligned by critics or don’t quite rank as highly in the pop culture zeitgeist as they should. There’s something special about these movies. On the docket:

• FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY
• GIGLI
• BABE: PIG IN THE CITY

A Second Look At…

Odds are, these are movies that I have seen more than two times. In fact, I’m guessing these are ones I have seen multiple times, but, as both I get older and the films get older, they still have things worth talking about. Three in the works include:

• THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
• SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD
• THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

I Don’t Get It…

Some movies appeal to large quantities of people. Why? I don’t know. Maybe after reading these analysis, you’ll understand my disdain for them. What am I looking at?

• ACROSS THE UNIVERSE
• SIN CITY
• TRANSFORMERS

I like doing this movie blog and while it may not get a lot of traffic, writing for my sake is still enjoyable enough to keep me coming back.
